Survey of the Fecal Thiaminase in Koreans

Abstract
|
|
|
A number of papers dealing with the fecal thiaminase were reported by the Japanese workers. This study was conducted due to lack of references reporting the fecal thiaminase in Koreans. The subjects selected were the 54 healthy airmen and the 52 patients admitted to the Seoul National University Hospital with G. I. troubles.
The findings on the fecal thiaminase in the healthy airmen and the hospitalized patients are as follows:
(1) The fecal thiaminase was positive in 2 cases among the 54 healthy airmen. (positive ratio 3.7%)
(2) The fecal thiaminase was . positive in 5 cases among the 52 hospitalized patients.
(positive ratio 9.6%)
